President Bola Tinubu Names Newly Approved Abuja Poly After Himself



In a significant development, Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially approved the establishment of a new polytechnic in Abuja, which will be named the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Polytechnic.


The institution will be located in the Gwarinpa area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), as confirmed by the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa. In a letter to the Minister of the FCT, Dr. Alausa emphasized that the polytechnic aims to advance technological, vocational, and entrepreneurial training, in alignment with Nigeria’s national educational policy.


Dr. Alausa has requested the FCT Minister to propose suitable locations in Gwarinpa for both temporary and permanent sites for the institution. Furthermore, the Federal Ministry of Education, along with the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), will be conducting site visits to inspect the recommended locations. Final approval will be based on the findings presented by the technical team.


The Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, has expressed his appreciation to President Tinubu for the decision to establish a federal polytechnic in Gwarinpa, calling it a welcome development for the region.
