There will be a BRICS Summit of Heads of State Government at Johannesburg, South Africa that has been scheduled to take holding from 22nd August to 24th August. And it appears that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be having a representative - in person of the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima.
The Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima will be representing President Bola Tinubu at the 15th BRICS Summit of Heads of State and Government, Johannesburg, South Africa.
This was announced in a press statement that was signed by the Director for Information, Office of the Vice President Olusola Abiola on Monday.
In the statement, he noted that the Vice President, Senator Shettima will be among other world business as well as political leaders at the Submit which is arranged to be held at Sandton Convention Centre, Johannesburg from August 22 to 24.
Renowned leaders such as; South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa; President Xi Jinping of China; Brazil’s President, Luiz Lula da Silva and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi are expected to be present at the BRICS Submit in South Africa.
Seventy-three dignitaries including the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the chairperson of the African Union Commission and President of the New Development Bank have also been invited.
“The summit is expected to deliberate on issues on trade and investment facilitation, sustainable development, innovation, and global governance reform,” Abiola said.
“It will also continue its outreach to Leaders from Africa and the global south as it focuses on global geopolitics, trade, and infrastructure development.”

BRICS, an acronym for Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, is a group of five major emerging and developing economies.
“The Vice President is accompanied on the trip by some senior government officials, and he is expected back in the country at the end of the week,” Abiola stated.
